IMPORTANT YEAR 12 VTAC INFORMATION

KEY DATES FOR VTAC

The Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) processes course applications on behalf of tertiary institutions, www.vtac.edu.au/

  • Timely applications close for VTAC on Wednesday 30 September. You can apply for up to 8 courses but change these as often as you want. 
  • Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) application close 9 October.
  • VTAC Scholarships application close 9 October.

These courses have VTAC applications and in some cases supplementary forms or audition applications due by Wed. 30 September. Students will be unable to add the courses into their VTAC preference list after this date.

  • You can apply for up to 5 courses. These can be changed later by certain dates, but some courses must be applied for by this date.
  • You can apply for Equity Scholarships and the  Educational Access Schemes (EAS). Closing dates will depend on the offer round.

APPLYING FOR NURSING/MIDWIFERY

Year 12 students applying for nursing or midwifery courses should be mindful of the following entry requirements:

 

VTAC

Applicants applying for nursing or midwifery courses via the Victorian Tertiary Admission Centre (VTAC) will need to complete the ‘Nursing and Midwifery Declaration Form’ within their VTAC account. 

 

Victoria University

Bachelor of Nursing applicants will need to register for and sit the CASPer test. Note – applicants who are also applying for Initial Teacher Education courses will need to pay and sit for two separate CASPer tests, https://takecasper.com/

 

UAC

Applicants applying for nursing or midwifery courses via the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) will need to complete an ‘English Proficiency Declaration’ within their UAC account. 

 

STUDENTS APPLYING FOR UNDERGRADUATE TEACHING COURSES

Victoria

To be eligible to apply for undergraduate teacher education courses, applicants will need to register for and sit the CASPer test.

NSW

To be eligible to apply for undergraduate teacher education courses at 9 universities, applicants will need to complete the teaching questionnaire within their UAC account, https://bit.ly/3iyDcnY 

 

Literacy and Numeracy Requirements

Students will need to register for and pass the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students during their teaching degree, https://bit.ly/2wzDXYg

 

YEAR 12 SCHOLARSHIPS (NON VTAC)

The University of Melbourne Principals Scholarship – any student who intends to study at UOM NEXT YEAR and wish to be the one student our school can nominate for The Principals Scholarship should have contacted their Neighbourhood Leader to inform them they’d like to be considered for nomination

 

La Trobe University’s Vice Chancellor's Access Scholarship offers up to four GSSC students a scholarship worth $5000 per year (for up to 4 years). To qualify you will need to be studying at La Trobe in 2021 and have experienced disadvantage. If this is you then you MUST submit an electronic nomination form (link below) to Graeme Crosbie by midday Friday 2nd October (email or via TEAMS). 

 

Eligibility:

To be eligible for the La Trobe Vice-Chancellor’s Access Scholarship 2021, students must:

  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa
  • Be studying an Australian Year 12 or IB in 2020
  • Have applied through VTAC/UAC for a La Trobe University undergraduate degree to commence in 2021
  • Have evidence of meeting the specified course prerequisites
  • Have experienced financial disadvantage plus educational disadvantage that has impacted on their studies (e.g., First in Family, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, refugee background, significant caring responsibilities, Non-English speaking background, personal hardship, disability or ongoing medical condition)
  • Be capable of maintaining satisfactory academic standards during their La Trobe University studies. Each school is asked to rank students according to the level of disadvantage they have experienced against the published La Trobe criteria.

Offers

The offer of a scholarship is conditional upon the student receiving a degree course offer at La Trobe University and their nomination ranking as provided by the school. The scholarship offer will be confirmed once the student accepts a First Round Offer place in the course at La Trobe University for study commencing in 2021. Link to the nomination form
