Year 12 News

Term 4 for the Class of 2020

As we transition from remote learning back to face to face for Term 4 I need to make you aware of a number of important events that will occur before our formal classes for Year 12 students end. This is an exciting time for students but it is also a time to focus on the next stage of their educational and career pathway.  It has been an enormous year full of challenges, I would first like to acknowledge the hard work of our families and teachers this year in supporting our 2020 Year 12 students.  We are immensely proud of our Year 12 students and the dedication, commitment and resilience they have shown to their studies.

This year has seen 15 weeks taken away from face to face learning, and with formal classes finishing on Monday the 26th of October, we have endeavoured to make the last few weeks with the 2020 student body as special and memorable as possible for them.  On the last page is an outline of the critical events in Term 4 where we finish off during week 4 with a Year 12 student dress up day then the final assembly.

Over the course of the September holidays, the school is running a number of online study session and is also providing students with the opportunity to attend external Exam study lectures. Students will be informed by their classroom teacher of relevant study sessions, times etc.  These are a great way to give students a kick-start leading into the exam period.

Please be aware that Week 1 of Term 4 (week starting October 5) will be conducted remotely - however, all VCE students will be required to attend school on Wednesday the 7th of October to complete the GAT. This year the GAT is more important than ever. To support our students we have created the following:

  1. An online program to work through the 2016 GAT paper

(Grant OLARENSHAW: Hi Unit 3/4 VCE students - Attached below is a link to resources t… )

  1. An online version of the multiple choice questions from 2019 – this will familiarise student on the style of questions they will be faced with

(Grant OLARENSHAW: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=_J6e8AX8Y0au_RN…

These resources should be used in conjunction with the past GAT papers which can be found on VCAA website (https://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/). It is really important that students are familiar with the format of the test.

From Week 2 (week starting October 12) all Year 12 students will be back to face-to-face learning. VCAL students will be completing their competency components for each Unit and VCE students will start with a 3 day Trail Exam period followed by 2 days of student Exam feedback sessions. This will set up both our Year 12 VCE and VCAL student for success.
