Humanities Term 3

While our lives are temporarily on pause, our learning never stops!

The Humanities department have worked tirelessly to ensure that our students enjoy the lessons and remain focused on their work while balancing their mental health. Our lessons have involved the seeking of knowledge, interaction and engagement while teaching our students about Economics, World War Two, Rights and Freedoms, Medieval Europe, Australian Settlement and Civil Rights.  The Humanities Department have put a lot of thought and effort into making these lessons remote learning friendly and useful for our students during this difficult period.

The following will give you a bit of an idea on what our students have been doing this term:

The Year 7 Humanities classes have taken a journey back in time to the Ancient Roman period and have been designing models of Roman inventions.

The year 9 History classes completed their source analyses Performance Task, which was based on the Industrial Revolution era. There were some outstanding pieces from these students which showed a deep and insightful understanding into the harsh realities of life as a child labourer.

Year 9 Geography students have used their knowledge of business to create a profile for a company of their choice.

The year 10 Humanities Extension students have recently completed their performance task on writing diary entries from the perspective of a soldier during the Kokoda Campaign. They have captivated us year 10 Humanities Extension teachers with the quality of work that they have produced during this challenging period. Here is an example below:

As a department, we collectively agree that our students have demonstrated a great work ethic and produced work of a higher standard this time and we are so, so proud of their efforts!
