OSHClub

What we’ve been up to at OSHC!

Over the past week we have been exploring our term goal, to learn more about Australian flora and fauna as well as how to look after the environments in which they exist! Recently, we have been working on the creation of a Reconciliation Garden at the school. This is a space to foster reflection and genuine acknowledgement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures in our local community. Linking with our goals for more authentic cultural awareness, we hope this garden will be utilised by the wider school community over the coming months!

As a part of our commitment to Wominjeka, meaning welcome, over the coming weeks and months, OSHClub will establish some indigenous plants and flowers within the Reconciliation garden, strengthening our sustainable practices. Siena has taken a leading role in this initiative and we can’t wait to see where it goes! This aligns with the Aboriginal message:

“We invite you to take a leaf from the branches of the river white gum. If you accept a leaf and we hope you do, it means you are welcome to everything, from the tops of the trees to the roots of the earth. But you must only take from this land what you can give back

From ‘Welcome to Country’ by Aunty Joy Murphy and Lisa Kennedy.

Also over these past weeks, we have had the pleasure of Mr Flannigan’s company for afternoon tea! The children have absolutely loved this experience and we can’t wait for many more shared afternoon tea experiences into the future.

Do you have any recycled materials we could use at OSHClub?

As part of our initiative to embed more sustainable practices within our program, we would love it if you could bring any recyclable materials that the children could repurpose into some awesome craft inventions! Things like toilet rolls, jars, boxes or even newspaper would be fantastic!

OSHClub Class Dojo

If you have a child who attends OSHClub, please take a moment to sign up to our Class Dojo. Through the application parents can view how their child is behaving and also peep a view at the fun things we get up to!
