Leadership Report

Welcome back everyone…

The first stage of our return to school has been completed very successfully. Our splendid team of marshals’ decked out in their individually styled ‘high vis jackets’ certainly looked magnificent. Our resident peacock (Luke) led our happy marshals to the front line in his usual effervescence style. He welcomed any adult with a child, be they a member of Newlands or not, I think social distancing has had an impact.

The teachers have as we all know done an amazing job over the last five weeks and have stepped up to reconnect to face to face teaching. I have never seen so many kids leaping and jumping all over the play equipment or on the oval. I even saw a group of kids playing hide n’ seek………….amazing!

This pandemic has taught us some very important hygiene lessons, both us as adults and of course for the children. School will be a very different place and learning will certainly have adjustments. I think our use of devices will change, and the use of devices both at school and at home.

Building Works

The ramps are coming along, and should be completed soon, particularly the one to the office. We expect the other ramps to be operational by the end of term two. The other major element which will impact, will be the construction of the new play area outside Mark's classroom.

Enrolments 2021

Reminder we are taking enrolments for our Foundation year, 2021. If you have a child starting who is a sibling please complete the 'Enrolment form' and return it with both a copy of the birth certificate and immunisation certificate. The form can be found on the school's website. If your child is a sibling or lives in the zone your enrolment is automatic. For those parents who are enrolling outside of the school zone your enrolment will be placed on a waiting list.

Like our local schools we experienced a significant upturn in Foundation enrolments in 2020. In light of this increase in Foundation numbers over the last couple of years, we ask that all 2021 Prep enrolments be lodged by Friday, 31st July. Later enrolments will be accepted if the student resides in our designated school zone or if places are still available.

Due to a significant increase in the number of Foundation enrolments during the past few years we must monitor enrolment intake. However, in recent years we have always been able to offer a place to all who have applied, as have local schools over many years.

Current Foundation Students

Thank you to all those parents who sent a copy of their child's immunisation certificate back to school. We will follow up over the next few weeks with those parents who haven't sent the certificate as yet.

One More Week of Remote Learning until the 4-6's return

We can't wait to have you all back!
