CAREERS PRACTITIONER
We were delighted to welcome Fiona Dimasi to the College on Monday September 16 as our newly appointed Careers Practitioner. Fiona has more than ten years’ experience working within the area of Careers and Apprenticeship Support.
Fiona is passionate and committed to helping young people. In her words; "I personally believe our career journey is ongoing, challenging and ultimately rewarding no matter the trials we may face along the way. Who we are, and what we become, is part of a lifelong process of continued learning and experiences: something to be embraced, feel nervous about, and be exhilarated by – and this is the message I will share with our students, as we as a school community stand beside them."

YEAR 11 SNOW CAMP
A big thank you to the staff who attended the Year 11 Snow Camp during the last week of August. The staff did a wonderful job to ensure that students were able to develop their skills in a safe and secure environment. Well done to all the students who attended as well.
Learning a new skill like snow skiing or snow boarding is a great example of what is required to succeed. Whilst there are always a couple who pick up the skills very quickly and naturally the vast majority of students need to display persistence and resilience to develop these new skills to a level where they can really enjoy themselves on the slopes. In many ways this is just like school.
For most of us to succeed at school requires determination, motivation, passion, support, persistence and resilience and these are exactly what is required when learning Snow Skiing or Snow Boarding. So well done to all those students who demonstrated these attributes and developed a new skill set.

CHINESE CULTURAL EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Our College is fortunate to be participating in the Sunraysia Schools Chinese Cultural Exchange Program again in 2019. In August a number of school families hosted visiting Chinese exchange students from Mildura's sister city Dali, giving the Chinese students a taste of Australian life and culture.
The students participated in activities both at school and throughout the district during the week. Participating in a student exchange is a wonderful way to learn about other cultures and we hope that you enjoyed hosting the students as much as they enjoyed being here. We would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the host families for making our Chinese visitors feel so welcome. Now we look forward to going to Dali to experience a taste of school and life in China.

LEARNING ENHANCEMENT
This term I have met with most parents and all students with personal learning plans. This process has been a wonderful celebration of the amazing work our students are doing. It has also provided opportunity for growth in myself, teachers and students to better support our students. It has been wonderful to see the way students are able to self-reflect on their own needs and assist in the creation of goals. If you were unable to attend the meeting and would like to meet with me, please make contact.
