Sub School News

Welcome back to school and Term 2.  We hope that all students and families had a restful break and are feeling refreshed and ready for another busy term at Lyndhurst Secondary College.  As most of you will have realised ‘winter is coming’, and that means colder weather.  Students should now be wearing the College winter uniform.

Please remember to dress according to the winter uniform (girls this means putting away the summer dress and wearing the winter skirt, shorts or trousers).

A reminder that beanies, hoodies, blankets and non LSC coats are not permitted at any time.

We had a very busy end of Term 1 and we would like to congratulate all students who achieved 100% attendance over the term and who had glowing reports during the parent – teacher interview evening.

During Term 1, students took part in numerous excursions including; Year 7 camp to Phillip Island, surf camps in Outdoor Education for Year 10 and 12 students, trips to the grand prix circuit in Albert park and 'try a trade' expo to name  a few.  We also had a very successful inter-house cross-country carnival where we had some excellent results and we look forward to taking the elite runners to the next regional cross-country event later in the term.

We have lots to look forward to in Term 2:

  • Open evening
  • Junior, intermediate and senior sport
  • VCE careers expo
  • NAPLAN testing
  • Athletics carnival
  • Y10 work experience

Junior, Middle and Senior School staff look forward to the weeks ahead as we continue to support and encourage all students to have high expectations of themselves and remind them to uphold the College Values of Commitment, Integrity and Respect.

ACE News

On Monday 1st April, 7ACE went to QUANTUM as part of their Digital technology learning. Students participated in a challenge that involved some construction and programming of robots to complete tasks around a Lego challenge map. This program covered key areas in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM).

Students exercised problem-solving and team-working skills whilst designing, building and programming Lego robots. The robots performed specific tasks using motors and sensors to solve problems on the Lego challenge map.

They engaged in hands-on STEM education. Students experimented with speed, distance and measurement, whilst developing critical thinking skills and the ability to predict and draw conclusions.

The students had a great time and showed true resilience and determination through this program.

Casey Tech Visit

Lyndhurst Year 12 VCE biology students visited the Casey Tech School on Tuesday April 2nd. They completed a practical lesson using algal jelly balls. It is a fantastic facility and has great staff. Students loved the fingerprint scanner lockers! Thank you Casey Tech School.
