Out Of School Hours Care

OSHC News

Term 3 - Week 8- OSHC News

Over the past fortnight the children have enjoyed participating in the My Time, Our Place program focus ‘Nutrition and Healthy Eating’. They have been provided with opportunities to build their creativity and imagination skills as they learn about the importance of healthy food in their lives. The program was implemented for children to learn to take increasing responsibility for their health and wellbeing and collaborate with others, express their ideas and develop their social skills. The daily program activities have sparked great conversation between children and their friends regarding healthy eating, especially during meal time.

The educators have continued to encourage all children to work on their individual portfolios during OSHC time. The children have demonstrated keen interest in adding their artwork to their portfolios, as well as filling out the ‘About Me’ sheets which help us gain insight into each child’s interests, family culture and favourite foods. We are always happy for families to come and have a look at their child’s folder!

We have spent a lot of time outdoors in the beautiful spring sunshine where the children have participated in both planned and spontaneous physical activities. Some favourite group activities include: lava monster playground chasey, red rover, footy, soccer games and dodgeball. Encouraging children to be active in our outdoor environment provides opportunities for individuals to develop their awareness of fair play, sharing and teamwork as well as refining their gross motor skills.

Assistant Director: Kelly Stephen is currently on Annual Leave and will be retuning on Monday 24th September. Therefore, Stephanie Katsimaglis will be the acting Assistant Director. Stephanie has been at the service since 2016 and has close relationships with all the children and families at our service.

October Vacation Care Program: is now available from the OSHC room, front office, attached below or online on the LNPS website.

COME AND JOIN IN THE FUN! We have an exciting program for children in all age groups for these upcoming school holidays. If you wish to attend please see our friendly educators for more information, be quick so you don’t miss out.

OSHC designated area: Parents/ Caregivers please beware the OSHC children use the playground and oval area (near the goal posts) after school. This area needs to remain safe for all children at OSHC. To ensure this area is safe to use we ask that parents/children refrain from playing/sitting here after school to prevent incidents occurring.  Parents will be asked to leave by the educators, if seen in the area. This will also include children who attend Greek school & Active after school.

Thank you for co-operation with this matter.

Students Punctuality at OSHC: Please remind and discuss with your child/ children the importance of arriving at the OSHC room on time straight after school. As this is a safety issue, if children don't arrive at the OSHC room within 5 minutes of the bell going we must begin searching the school for them, this takes away much needed time with the children.

Cancellation forms: A friendly reminder to all parents/caregivers, when cancelling a session two weeks written notice is required, a cancellation form can be obtained from the OSHC room and given to an educator or the Director.

Sign in/out: Due to the New Child Care Package, parents will need to sign in and sign out at the exact time that their children arrive or leave the service. Our OSHC service is now required to provide Centrelink with the exact duration that each child attends the service in order for families to receive the child-care benefit.

QIP: As part of our Quality Improvement Plan we are constantly reviewing our service and thinking of different ways to improve, change or extend upon our ideas/ facilities etc. If you have any ideas or feedback please feel free to communicate these with an educator or the Director

Active After School: If your child is going to attend an after school activity please notify the service in advanced. If our educators have not been notified by parent/caregiver children will not be allowed to leave the service.

Absentees: Parents who have children attending OSHC but are absent from school or picked up early from school, need to notify the service by phone on 8443 5308 ASAP as we have children on the waiting list. Just a reminder to parents to contact the service on 8443 5308, if their child(ren) are no longer attending their sessions. If both parents and caregivers cannot be reached the police will be contacted.

Yearly Permanent Booking Forms 2018: Please make sure you have booked your child/ren into OSHC if you require the service for 2018. It is essential that parents, who need care for their children, fill in the yearly permanent booking form which can be collected from the OSHC room, front office or our website.
