Sustainability

Last term we were delighted to find out that our application for a grant for our veggie garden was successful! This $1000 grant, from Landcare and Woolworths, will be spent on improving our vegetable garden, specifically on the purchase of a Vegepod, which is a lidded raised bed with a wicking system incorporated.  Students will be able to get involved with planting both this, and the existing garden beds, as soon as the weather warms up a little. Our Prep students have been tasked with planting some seeds in mini greenhouses, ready to plant out in spring – thank you Steph for organising this!  The children will be able to observe the growth of seeds into plants, which will (hopefully) eventually produce tomatoes and cucumbers for them to eat.  There will be opportunities for students to help with planting, harvesting, and of course eating as things progress.  A massive thanks to my amazing son Joe, who spent hours putting the pod together and filling it with soil ready for our students to get growing!

Nude food is now on a Monday – thank you to parents for helping us to reduce the amount of rubbish in our yard by supporting this student-led initiative. Prizes continue to be awarded each week to the grade with the least rubbish – well done to Chelsea and Sam for organising, and a huge thanks to Yvette at Smash Enterprises for donating our prizes.
