District Open Teeball

On Thursday 14th July 10 of our students competed in the Teeball at Serpell Primary against the other schools in our district. We ended up finishing equal third which was a brilliant effort as this was the first time the team had been together. I was blown away by some of the fielding and batting and just the way in which our students represented themselves and our school. Congratulations to Harry, Hunter, Saskia, Bronte, Lani, Sophie W, Sam, Asher and Charlie C (Grade 6) and Charlie K ( Grade 5).

A huge thank you to Carmen Greenhill and Leanne Whitmore for helping to transport our team on the day!

P – 2  Swimming Lessons

From all reports the swimming lessons have been a huge success. All students I have spoken to have said they are enjoying them a lot. It is wonderful that we are able to have our students participating in this activity once again.

I think there are going to be a lot of tired staff and students by the end of the week!

Fun Run/Cross Country Sponsor Prize winners

Finally we were able to hold our assembly to award the Lap-A-Thon winning students with their engraved medals The 2 students who ran the most laps in the Lap-A Thon (held in term 1) from each year level were awarded an engraved medal. Congratulations to these students! We ran a record number of laps this year totaling 2,600kms, the equivalent to running from Warrandyte to Townsville!! Wow!

We also had the drawing of names of 10 students who had raised $45 or more for our Fun Run/Cross Country fundraiser. These students were able to choose from a range of sporting equipment. This year that included families who had raised $45 or more.

A huge thank you to the school community for supporting this fundraiser, $4,200 was raised to go towards ordering new sets of soccer and football uniforms for our students.

THANK YOU!!

Congratulations to Mungo who raised the most money ($286) and Eliza and Archie who raised the most money ($440) as a family.

5/6 Hooptime

It was so exciting last Friday for our Grade 5/6 students who competed at Hooptime at Nunawading stadium. It’s been 3 years since we’ve been able to compete so none of these students had experienced this day. Needless to say that every student thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

We had 4 teams that competed, and a big thank you to Jarrod Hill who coached a Rookie team for us and to Sharni Pearce who stepped in for Leanne Whitmore at the last minute to coach our All Star Girls team. We had some great successes on the day with our Future Star team making the grand final, unfortunately only losing by 10 points. One of our Rookie teams were undefeated on the day, the other Rookie team playing with only 5 players so no player was able to be subbed all day. Our All Star Girls were the only All Star Girls team so go through to the next round which will be played in term 4.

We had 4 Warrandyte High students who came along to help coach/score for us and doing a brilliant job.

3/4 Hooptime is on Friday 2nd September at Mullum Mullum stadium. If any parents are available and wanting to coach or score their child’s team please let me know ASAP. Thank you.
