2022 Parent Financial Contributions

The 2022 Parent Financial Contributions have been set at $380.00, attached is the form for voluntary parent payments.

COVID Information

The Department of Education and Training has decided to continue with the Rapid Antigen Testing and will be distributed to students. It is recommended that rapid antigen tests are used by students and staff when symptomatic.

Rapid antigen tests are also required to be used at least for five days if a student or staff member is an identified close contact of a confirmed case and they are attending school onsite.

HEALTH & WELLBEING

It is vital that we keep illnesses contained. The spread of influenza and other viruses can spread quickly amongst students and staff, especially as we head into winter.

As we head into the colder months it is important to remember:

If your child is suffering from a persistent cough (a cough that is persistent for more than one hour that is NOT asthma related), YOUR CHILD IS SICK AND SHOULD NOT BE ATTENDING SCHOOL.
If your child is suffering from a persistent runny nose (for more than one hour), YOUR CHILD IS SICK AND SHOULD NOT BE ATTENDING SCHOOL.
If your child has an upset tummy, with pains and complaining or showing signs of being uncomfortable, please do not send your child to school as YOUR CHILD IS SICK AND SHOULD NOT BE ATTENDING SCHOOL.
If your child complains of a sore throat (a throat that is red on examination of the back of the throat), then YOUR CHILD IS SICK AND SHOULD NOT BE ATTENDING SCHOOL.
If your child has a fever higher than 37.9, please do not send them to school.
If your child has vomited at home, please keep your child home from school for a full 24 hours from the last vomit. Many students are sent home again after coming to school due to vomiting in the classroom after they arrive. This spreads the germs and greatly disrupts the classroom and learning of other students.
No student should be at school if they have had diarrhoea or vomited within the last 24 hours.
If your child requires Panadol or Nurofen before attending school for a headache, sore throat, body aches and pains or fever, YOUR CHILD IS SICK AND SHOULD NOT BE ATTENDING SCHOOL.

If staff require your child to go home due to illness, please make sure you have someone on call if you yourself are unable to pick up them. We are asking for all unwell students to be collected from school within a reasonable time frame (within an hour of being called). If this is impractical, please make arrangements with family or friends to be on call for the school to contact.

With your help we can contain illnesses. To help reduce the spread of illness, please take the time to discuss personal hygiene with your child. Please remind children to cover their mouth and nose in their elbow when they cough or sneeze, dispose of any tissues in the bin and wash their hands with soap properly and regularly.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

As research clearly shows, students cannot learn if they do not attend school. Students who are unwell most definitely need to stay home however days spent at home for 'special occasions' have a negative impact on a child's ability to advance with learning.

An example;

Absent 1 day per week...

40 days per year = 8 weeks for the year, almost a term

40 days per year for 13 years = 54 weeks which is over 1 year absent.

Absent 1 day per fortnight...

Equates to 27 weeks over 13 years

While continuing to focus on regular attendance the school also has a focus on punctuality. Good punctuality is essential for all children if they are to achieve their full potential academically and develop employment and life skills. It can seem insignificant to be 5 minutes late, however consider this:

5 minutes per day is...

25 minutes per week

17 hours per year

221 hours per school life

Doesn't sound much but then there are the other impacts.

Lateness has a negative impact on the child, his or her classmates and staff.

Students arriving late to class often miss important learning opportunities as well as the organisational procedures that occur at the beginning of the day. They also miss the teacher's introduction when the aims of the lesson and learning objectives are explained and task instructions given. This hinders the student's understanding of the lesson and affects progress. In all cases, a child arriving late interrupts the lesson, disrupting teaching and learning for all.

Please give consideration to the above when determining your child's attendance.
