Aoife's Message

Hello Holy Cross families,

We're well and truly into the swing of Term Three. Thank you to our staff and families who met together last week for Parent/Teacher chats. We have set formal meetings twice per year, however you are actively encouraged and warmly invited to get in touch with your child's class teacher at any point throughout the term. You might want to share a concern or some lovely family news, our doors are always open.

Prep 100 days celebration

Thank you to everyone for supporting our Prep 100 day celebration by dressing your child up to join in the festivities. Much fun was had by all of our Preps as they took part in activities, shared a special snack and all round enjoyed themselves!

Year 5 - Sovereign Hill excursion

What a pleasure it was to join the Year 5 crew for a day of learning and exploration at Sovereign Hill. Our school was one of many school groups on the day and I wasn't at all surprised to hear some of the staff at Sovereign Hill compliment us on how polite our children were throughout the day. Thanks to our parent helpers and to our Year 5 team for organising the day.

Sacrament of Eucharist

Our Year Four children recently took part in a commissioning Mass in preparation for the Sacrament of Eucharist this term. Please pray for these children, their families and teachers as they prepare to celebrate this special occasion.

Best wishes to Caitlyn

We are preparing to wish Caitlyn well on her impending motherhood journey. She will commence maternity leave on Tuesday 16th August. Michelle Ray has been appointed to replace Caitlyn's classroom role four days per week. We welcome Michelle to our community and hope that she will be very happy working with us. Kathy Shelton will take Outdoor Education classes for our P-2 children until the end of the year.

Junior Chef competition at Sacred Heart

Best wishes to our Year Four representatives who will be taking part in a junior chef event at Sacred Heart. Gabriella, Harley,  Rose and Ivy will be tasked with whipping up pancakes and a berry sauce. We can't wait to hear how you get on!

Pie-drive!

Thank you to our PFA for organising a pie fundraiser. We appreciate everyone's support. Pies will be available for pick up on Wednesday 10th August from 3pm-4pm in the multipurpose room.

School closure - Mathematics focus

A reminder that we have a school closure day next Friday to facilitate staff professional development in the area of mathematics. It's vital that as a staff we continue to refine our skills and engage with the latest research to ensure we target the needs of our children.

MP visit today

We had a last minute visit from Rob Mitchell MP today. He presented us with new flags for our flag poles. Our school captains will raise the three flags each day that we are onsite.

Potholes/Water

We are acutely aware of the current state of our driveway. The potholes continue to worsen, despite our weekend attempts to shore them up. Sincere thanks to the Bevan and Dickson families for your help with this. We are awaiting a quote to fix the potholes. In the meantime please be cautious as you drive through, being particularly mindful of the safety of pedestrians

We are experiencing plenty of wet weather at the moment. You might like to consider sending a spare pair of shorts/tracksuit pants and socks to school with your child in case they get damp/muddy.

Appointment of co-deputy principals

Congratulations to Kellie McDonald and Kate Johnston on being appointed as co-deputy principals from 2023. We are delighted to have them as they already bring a wealth of passion, knowledge and expertise to our school.

Have a lovely weekend!
