I was recently reading an article on what it means to be a Good Citizen.
At Good News Lutheran College, all year round, we strive to be good citizens. There are many definitions of a good citizen but to narrow it down, it means that you belong and identify with a community. However, the question remains: what makes someone a good citizen? Many would define Citizenship as the state of being vested with the rights, privileges, and duties of a citizen. In GNLC’s eyes, citizenship means accepting, respecting, and living the values of integrity. We have a culture of acceptance; we always practice accepting everyone for who they are. If you identify with a culture, gender, or religion, you are welcome, and a good citizen would recognise this. This is important. Part of being a good GNLC citizen means abiding by the Student Code of Conduct and learning how to engage in making a safe and joyful environment for all of us.
Accepting mistakes and helping each other through them is vitally important. Mistakes do not define who we are, and we should not be judged based on them.
Uniform expectations for excursions
Students in Middle and Senior Years are required to wear their full Winter uniform (during Terms 2 and 3) and their full summer uniform (Term 1 and 4) including blazer, to all external excursions. This includes the normal school rules of hair tied back, one earing in each ear and no other visible jewellery.
Uniform expectations for sport
Students participating in sport off campus are required to wear their full sports uniform. This includes sports socks, GNLC shorts or tracksuit pants and the sports jacket. This does not include external jackers, non GNLC tracksuit pants or shorts or any form of hoody. Students not dressed correctly may be excluded from the sport.
