The End of a Term

As we approach the last day of term, I would like to acknowledge the hard work of the whole St Patrick’s College community. The staff have worked hard to ensure that your son/s can achieve their best in terms of educational outcomes. There have been many extra events that have occurred over the last few weeks. These include music soirees, drama nights, winter sports presentation evenings, Year 12 Graduation events as well as transitioning our Year 11 students into becoming leaders in 2023. These events highlight the all-round education that we seek to provide at St Patrick’s, and I know as parents/carers that is one of the reasons why you send your son/s to the College, and I thank you for your support.

Over the course of the term, I have continued to enjoy getting to know your sons and the playground has been full of friendly banter around Rugby League finals. I have to say that I am enjoying more and more the conversations about my team as they continue to win and make their way hopefully through to the Grand Final. These conversations remind me of the importance of connection. It is one of the most important traits of education, which is making genuine connections. Throughout the year I have found your son/s engaging, inquisitive and genuinely interested in others. While young men sometimes get poor publicity regarding being disinterested or for grunting and one-word answers, I think that this stereotype does not fit the average young man who walks in and out of our College gates each day, and for that I am truly thankful.

I wish you all a safe and happy holiday. I trust you will get to spend some quality time with your son/s. I am looking forward to getting the tent out and going camping next week with my family and friends. It will be a time to stop, listen and enjoy time with the family, get back to nature and to take the time to find God in all things.
