EDSC success at the 2022 SSV State Cross Country Championships!

Four of our most talented distance runners represented the College in the SSV Cross Country State Championships held at the Yarra Valley Racecourse during Week 1 of Term 3.

In cold, muddy and uncomfortable conditions, our students represented EDSC with pride and passion - pitting themselves against the best cross country runners in the state.

Results from the day are as follows:

Maisie - 9th Girls 14 Years

Maddie - 28th Girls 16 Years

Megan - 13th Girls 17-20 Years

Flynn - 4th Boys 16 Years

These are an outstanding set of results from our students and as a College we congratulate them - well done! Finishing in the top 30 is a significant achievement at this level.

We look forward to watching their progress in the coming years!

Perfect 10 in a row for Dunlop in the 2022 House Athletics Carnival!

Dunlop have won their 10th House Athletics in a row, taking out the 2022 carnival in a tight contest with second placed Bradman – with Sutherland and Chisholm rounding out the top 4.

The incredible Dunlop streak began in 2011, winning 9 in a row prior to 2020/21 where we were unable to run carnivals.

The overall team results of the day are as follows:

Dunlop 1267 (10 years in a row!)

Bradman 1165

Sutherland 994

Chisholm 778

Congratulations to the following students who were awarded age group champions for the carnival - there were some closely contested age groups with all competitive track and field events contributing to overall champion points:

12-13yo Girls                    Scarlet K

12-13yo Boys                    Marcus D

14yo Girls                           Victoria M

14yo Boys                           Brayden C

15yo Girls                           Courtney M

15yo Boys                           Golden C

16yo Girls                           Mia K

16yo Boys                           Charlie M

17yo Girls                           Poppy B

17yo Boys                           Muha M

Tied 18-20yo Girls            Ruth C

                                               Tilly R

                                               Jessica S

18-20yo Boys                     Callum O

Three College records were broken on the day:

Flynn W broke a 44-year-old record in the Boys 16 1500m by 4 seconds, Callum O broke the Boys 18-20 High Jump record and Mia K eclipsed the Girls 16 100m record that was established 14 years ago! These new benchmarks will take much beating in the coming years.

Our age champions, along with a large number of other students within the College will have the opportunity to represent the school in the Whitehorse Division Athletics Carnival on Tuesday 9 August at the Tom Kelly Athletics Track. These participants will be informed via an event on compass over the next two weeks. We wish them all the best with their preparation and training in the lead up to this event.

Thank you to all students and staff for their efforts in making our 2022 carnival a huge success.

Virtual SSV Cross Country (Run-Walk-Ride)

It’s time to get thousands of feet moving across Victoria with students having the chance to have fun while getting active!

Primary and secondary students from Government, Independent and Catholic schools have the opportunity to participate in School Sport Victoria's Virtual Cross Country in 2022 as part of SSV Play.

SSV Play aims to engage less active students and those not currently participating in interschool sport, through a variety of sport and physical activities.

Virtual Cross Country encourages students to go for a walk, jog or run and record their results to earn virtual points for their school.

In 2022, SSV is encouraging students to go for at least one run, jog or walk a week over a 4 week period in either Terms 2 and or Term 3 to support more regular participation in being active.

Students can take part in their own time or participate in an organised school event.

The main aim is for students to give it a go and have fun or even achieve a personal best distance or time.

Students participating in the Virtual Cross Country will earn virtual points for their school, with awards provided to schools with the highest participation. Students can also choose to have their results made public, but that is not mandatory.

Virtual Cross Country is now open! Entries close on 16 September 2022.
