Dear Parents and Friends of St Therese's Primary School,

Come and have a cuppa!

I mentioned in our last newsletter that you needed to keep your eye out for an invitation to come and have a cuppa - well here it is. On Friday 5th August, from 2.45 until 3.30, Trish Lloyd and myself will be in the Community Hub, the urn will be on and the tea bags ready. (Just for the record, as an English person I break the rules - I don't like tea!) Pop in and say hello, it will be a simple affair but an important opportunity for me to start getting to know you as well as the children.

Book Week 2023

I'm getting in super early for this one - St Therese's Book Character Day will be on August 23rd this year and will coincide with our Scholastic Book Fair. More information regarding the Book Fair will be sent home in coming weeks but I'm keen to get the children excited about our Book Character Day. My costume is ready and I can't wait to see what ideas the children have.

Friendly Reminders

I have added a new page in the newsletter this week - for those little things that need promoting. You'll find information regarding enrolments, Covid and our Facebook page there.

Prayer for the week

‘Your kingdom come.’ The kingdom that Jesus referred to is not a place or an empire. The Kingdom is how God wants the world to be and that includes us. Jesus described the Kingdom of God in many different parables but what he was referring to was the way people relate to one another and treat one another, such as the story of the Good Samaritan.

Jesus was praying in a certain place, and after he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, ‘Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.’ He said to them, ‘When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come.’

Jesus wanted the Kingdom of God to be here among us. He wanted a world that was centred on the gospel values that he was proclaiming. What can we do this week to make this ‘Kingdom’ a reality in this world?

May we be Kingdom people who show mercy and compassion.

May we be Kingdom people who are hope-filled and optimistic.

May we be Kingdom people who try to live out the gospel message.

Amen

Have a great week!
