SAPOL Police Band Visit Magill School

On Thursday 28th July, SAPOL Police band treated the students and staff of Magill School with two fantastic performances. There was a LOT of happiness in the Gym listening and dancing with the Police Band. "Count on Me" was a lovely song about sharing kindness and being a good friend to others – what we endeavour to demonstrate and promote at Magill School.

Some of the Year 1 Review teams favourite pieces of music they heard included Ghostbusters, Star Wars, How to train your dragon, Harry Potter, Simpsons theme song, Looney Tunes theme,  Dynamite and Fireworks.

Individual responses of happiness to the performance include:

I liked the star wars song because it was fun to listen to.

The instruments were played so creatively, very well and with confidence.

When I heard Ghostbusters, I just wanted to get up off the floor and dance.

My favourite moment in the performance was when the medley of all the different songs played at the end and everyone got up and moved around the gym.

I liked how the drummer Peter played the drums and he was right next to the speaker.

People were engaged with the music and the songs by singing along, dancing with their bodies and joining the Conga line to move around the Gym.

I would like to learn how to play the flute because it is a calm and gentle instrument.

I hope I can become a great flutist like Linda one day.

Overall the SAPOL Police Band was an exciting performance that was thoroughly enjoyed by all at Magill School.
