Hi Magillian families and welcome to the start of Term 3. We are already running full steam ahead with preparations for Science Week, Book Week, Sports Day, not to mention welcoming our semester two Student Action Team representatives.

We thought it would be lovely to take the opportunity here on Being Well at Magill to thank our semester one representatives. They have truly worked hard to initiate improvements at our school and organised many fun lunchtime activities for all students at Magill to enjoy. So, once again, thank you for all your hard work this year and welcome to our new representatives!

KESAB - Keep South Australia Beautiful

Earlier in the year, our Student Action Team Representatives recognised a rubbish problem at our school. At the beginning of this term, one of our Student Action team teachers: Jacqui, organised KESAB to come and conduct a rubbish audit/education session with a selection of our students. She has written a summary of the visit for us.

On Wednesday 27th July, Wendy from Kesab visited Magill School to talk to students from reception to year 6 about rubbish. Each class had 3 representatives to listen and participate in the informative session. They then reported back to their class on what they had learned.

They looked at where rubbish goes and what happens at a recycling depot. The students were super knowledgeable, posed really interesting questions and were very engaged during the session. Who knew rubbish could be so interesting? The children finished off with a recycle relay to help them sort out rubbish and to determine which was the best bin to use.

The aim of the Kesab visit was to help reduce our landfill, start conversations with their classroom and at home. One key message was "If it grows it goes", which helps to remind the children to use the green bin.

Until next time stay well.
