Unwin Wines Business Tour

The Year 12 Business Management class ventured to Windermere at the end of Term Two to learn about the operations of Michael Unwin Wines. As a part of the Business Management Curriculum, students study a range of businesses and apply the key knowledge they learn to the individual business situations. To give students a real-life business experience, they visited Michael Unwin Wines cellar door and received a terrific tour.

During the tour students could see where the wine is sold, bottled, fermented, created and more. It was great to see each element of the operation of a business and how there are so many components that a business must consider.

To end the afternoon, students had the opportunity to sit down (around the warm fire) with Michael and ask him questions about his business. Students asked many interesting questions that related to their subject and their own curiosity.

Students used what they had learnt during the excursion in their school-assessed coursework when back in class. It was a valuable experience for students to not just discuss real-life scenarios in class, but see a business in action.

A big thank you to Michael and the Team at Michael Unwin Wines! We appreciate how accommodating all staff were and how generous they were with their time to ensure students had the opportunity to experience what happens in the operations systems of a business.
