Year 2 - APSMO Trial

We are delighted that Albany Rise has been selected to trial a new problem solving program in Year 2 this term.  The trial program is run by the Australian Problem Solving Mathematical Olympiads Organisation. (APSMO). Children will take part in a session each week where they will be taught a strategy and will then be given a variety of problem solving tasks to solve. The teachers involved will give feedback about the tasks to the APSMO. 

The aim of the program is to:-

• promote and improve maths problem solving skills amongst all students in primary schools across Australia and New Zealand 
• support teachers in developing their students to understand a variety of strategies to promote flexibility in their problem solving 
•  encourage creativity and collaboration in problem solving
•  stimulate enthusiasm and enjoyment of mathematics.
