Our Trip to ACMI

On Thursday 8th of June, the year 11 and 12 VCAL class travelled to the city to seek out the wonders that ACMI held. ACMI stands for the Australian Centre for the Moving Image and it is situated in Federation Square in the heart of Melbourne. It showcases various exhibitions, interactive displays, and screenings that explore the history, artistry, and impact of the moving image. Upon arriving we were given a free handheld disc called Lens that allows us to collect the artworks and objects we discovered in the exhibition. ACMI is made up of Five distinct sections, each show casing the birth of Film and beyond. We started the tour  with ancient shadow puppets and its origins, we then continued to the original cameras, iconic costumes, movie sets and contemporary arts. Each historical item held great value as it offered a tangible connection to the past, providing insights into different eras, cultures, and significant events that have shaped our world. We are very grateful for this opportunity as it allowed us to broaden our perspective and deepen our understanding of the world around us. We thank Mr. Tucker and Ms. Lemire for making this trip happen.
