CURRICULUM FOCUS

In Maths this week we have been investigating skip counting patterns when counting coins. We noticed that the patterns connect with our skip patterns of 2, 5, and 10.


VOCABULARY

Dollar: The unit of currency or money. Made up of 100 cents.

 

Cents: Another unit of currency equal to one hundredth of a dollar- therefore there is 100 cents in one dollar.

 

Currency: A system of money in common use within a specific environment over time. 


ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Money comes in lots of shapes and sizes. Research with your parents all the different kinds of money. Can you find:

  • Colourful money
  • The largest note
  • The smallest coin
  • A coin with a hole in it
  • A gold AND silver coin
