Lights Out
As reported by Darcy Barrett in an earlier issue of The Boarding Buzz, Great Southern Grammar won a competition in National Boarding Week to make the front cover of the of the Australian Boarding Schools Association (ABSA) magazine, Lights Out. The photo was taken by our Head of Boarding, Mr Ashley Keatch and entered into the competition by one of our Gap Assistants, Miss May Botha. The photo features Hamish Medway, Jack Carlson and Darcy Barrett on a Standup Paddleboard recreational activity. Please read the June issue of the magazine here.
This is the second time that Great Southern Grammar has made the front cover of Lights Out, the last time being October 2020 when our current Years Ten and Eleven boarders from Breaksea House featured as Years Seven and Eight from Endeavour.

Term Three Commencement
The first day of Term Three is Tuesday 18 July. Boarders can return to boarding from 4.00pm on Monday 17 July.
For families who are attending Parent/Teacher Interviews on Monday 17 July, the Boarding Houses will open at 2.30pm.
Kingfisher Fair
The Kingfisher Fair is not too far away, (Week Eight of Term Three) and we need your help. Boarding will be running a chocolate wheel with prizes on offer. We are looking for boarding families to donate prizes for the chocolate wheel. Please send these back to school with your child any time from now until the end of the Closed Weekend in Term Three. Here are some ideas to help you choose something for the prize baskets:
- gardening and hardware
- giftware
- arts
- sporting
- gourmet/pampering
Additionally, the students of Breaksea and Endeavour are going to make Rocky Road and sell these in decorated jars. We are looking for donations of large, empty Moccona jars, preferably 400gm jars. We would also love donations of the special edition pre-decorated Moccona jars, (see below). Please send in any jars that you have collected to Breaksea House.
Flexischools
The Flexischools roster for Term Three is:
- Monday - Eclipse
- Tuesday - Breaksea
- Wednesday - Anchorage
- Thursday - Endeavour
As always, for students who are at TAFE or Workplace on their Flexischools day, they can negotiate an alternate day with the Canteen staff.
Have a wonderful break with your family and friends.
