Essential Assessment - Numeracy

Essential Assessment - Numeracy is an online, differentiated, personalised, assessment and curriculum program used at St Cecilia's to support the teaching of Mathematics.

Essential Assessment Numeracy provides a Victorian Curriculum Numeracy assessment model that delivers a whole school approach to summative and formative assessment.

We Pre-Assess our Students

The online assessment program allows each teacher to pre-assess each student within each strand or sub-strand of the Victorian Curriculum.

Student results are then automatically compiled advising the teacher of each student’s current progression point or level and a report of the achievement standards that each student has understood and misunderstood.

My Numeracy

We differentiate the curriculum within each sub-strand based on the achievement standard results and create a tailored paper-based and online curriculum for each student, group or class.

My Numeracy acts as a formative assessment model with an interactive teaching and learning function that enables each student to progress through each proficiency standard of each achievement standard of the curriculum.

Post-Assess our Students

Student results are then compiled with a results summary prepared for the teacher identifying each students:

  1. Pre-assessment progression point or level
  2. My Numeracy formative assessment achievement standards demonstrated
  3. Post-assessment progression point or level
  4. Growth achieved through each sub-strand

Student results are then automatically compiled advising the teacher of each student’s current progression point or level and a report of the achievement standards that each student has understood and misunderstood.

Analyse our Students

The analyse school feature updates throughout the school year and enables not only teachers, but school leaders to monitor progress within each strand and sub-strand compared with the curriculum and other Essential Assessment users for every:

  1. Year Level
  2. Class
  3. Individual Student

You may have seen your child access Essential Assessment - Numeracy as part of their homework. If not, ask them to show you around the website. If students do not know their login details you can contact the classroom teacher.
