The champions of 7P have had an outstanding start to their second semester of life as a BSC student. They constantly display the BSC values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience and make the life of teachers extremely difficult in selecting students to be the recipient of values points each week. Although they did have strong friendships at the start of the year, one of the best things about this class has been witnessing new friendships form over the year.
Class discussions are always interesting with a strong contribution from a range of students, and they respectfully listen and respect others opinions. Way to go 7P.
Maths
This term in maths the students have been revising their four basic operations, and exploring the different techniques used to solve multi-step multiplication and division problems. By building upon these skills, the students have been able to work in teams to solve some higher-order worded problems. This has helped the students understand how the maths we have been learning links to real-world use.
Later this term, we will be exploring the world of Algebra. We are both excited and a little nervous, as this is the first time many of us will be seeing letters in maths equations!
Science
Density towers are a fun experiment that demonstrates the density of liquids. Substances that are more dense create the base of the tower, while substances that areless dense seem to float in the middle and top
English
This term, 7P have been busy fine tuning their skills and knowledge around poetry. This has consisted of learning about the different sound and visual devices, as well as the variety of types that poetry has to offer. All of these skills and knowledge will be bought together when the students write and perform their own poem for the two CAT’s that are due this term. Alongside the poetry unit, we have been busy continuing developing our knowledge around comprehension of our Book Club texts and completing written responses to dig deeper into the book.

Humanities
In Humanities, 7P has been looking at the laws of Australia, how they are made and how they are enforced. 7P also considered what rights and responsibilities they have under the law, and how they can access these. This is to prepare students for the world and make them informed and active citizens. We have also looked at the voting process, and the qualities that good community leaders have. We have focussed our efforts on Eddie Koiki Mabo, who led a number of indigenous causes.
