Intermediate/Junior Band

This term all junior band students have been promoted to the intermediate band. The new intermediate band rehearsed last week and already promises to be a fantastic ensemble. Their first public performance will be at the Spring Concert at the end of term. In the meanwhile, keep your eye out for notice of an open rehearsal later in the term.

East Gippsland Music Festival Success

During the last week of term BSC music students took part in the East Gippsland Music Festival which was hosted by our school. A different ensemble rehearsed each day culminating with the Gala Concert to a packed Boucher Hall on the Thursday evening.  

The festival made the front cover of the Advertiser with the values of music highly outlined. Congratulations to all our BSC music students who were involved. They certainly represented our school very well.

Instrumental Music Lessons

Do you wish you could join the music program but think you have missed out? 

Well it is not too late. This term we are encouraging new students into the program to learn a band instrument and join the new junior band. Instruments available to learn are: Flute, clarinet, oboe, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, tuba, electric bass and percussion. Students have a rotating lesson during class time and will be in the new junior band. Junior band will be on Wednesdays after school and will start in a few weeks’ time.

To take part for the rest of the year costs $100 for lessons and $100 to hire an instrument.

Enrolment and hire forms are available in the music centre. Students wishing to tryout an instrument should ask at the music centre.

 AMEB Examinations

Students need to discuss the option of doing an AMEB examination with their music teacher. AMEB forms are available in the music centre and are due with payment by Monday August 7th.
