EMPOWERING STUDENT WELLNESS: Tips and Resources

THE POWER OF FAMILY

By Matt Edwards (Primary Chaplain)

Life is hard enough to manage as it is sometimes.

Like a juggler, our society endeavours to keep all the balls up in the air, with not one falling to the ground. Yet Covid has been like a dense fog that it had to pass through, and once on the other side, it could see that some of the balls were missing. One of those, has been the mental health of our young people.

The amount of money that has now been invested into supporting the mental health of our youth is admirable. But there is something that can be more consistent than this type of intervention.

For a child to know that they will be forgiven, accepted and supported; unconditionally, is of great necessity. And the most powerful place for this to occur, is in the family.

You have the power to be the place in which your child re-energises. Finds healing. Comfort. Belonging. That when your child feels that they have hit rock bottom, they realise that you are that rock beneath them. So be encouraged. The care you offer to your children every day, is the care that counts.

Remember the power you have to cherish your family.

PROMOTING WELLBEING AND NUTRITION FOR STUDENTS

Ensuring the wellbeing and nutrition of students is crucial for their overall health and development. It is important to equip them with strategies to manage anxiety, build resilience, and make healthy choices.

One valuable resource that covers these topics is an article titled "Managing Anxiety and Building Resilience in Kids: How Nutrition Can Help" (follow link)

This insightful article provides sensible advice suitable for all ages, offering practical ways in which nutrition can support mental well-being.

WELLBEING RESOURCES

We know that it can sometimes be hard to find the necessary resources in relation to mental health, bullying and family violence, especially when things are tough. For this reason, the School has a small webpage with links related to health and wellbeing resources. This can be found on the School's website under Other Resources or can be found here.
