LOOK DEEPER

BY PAUL LEWRY (HEAD OF MIDDLE SCHOOL)

As a community, we strive to create an environment that is deeply connecting, inspiring, and caring for everyone involved.

Throughout his ministry, Jesus continually called upon those who were considered less capable, less skilled, and even marginalised by society. He saw beyond the surface and recognised the inherent worth and hidden potential in every individual. Rather than focusing on what someone lacked, Jesus chose to highlight their unique gifts and abilities, inviting them to join him in his work.

Jesus never turned away those who were deemed unworthy or insufficient. Instead, he surrounded himself with people from all walks of life and loved them unconditionally, helping them grow and flourish. He extended this love and care even to those who made mistakes or fell short, never giving up on them and always offering guidance and support.

This sentiment resonates deeply with us as a community. We are reminded of the significance of embracing each individual's uniqueness, regardless of their perceived limitations. It is within our diverse community that true growth and transformation occur, as we learn from one another's strengths and weaknesses, talents and struggles.

Regardless of our walk of life, let us all foster an environment where all those we come in contact with are encouraged to explore their talents. Let us look beyond their faults and shortcomings, offering them unwavering love, care, and guidance along their journey. By doing so, we empower them to reach their fullest potential, confident in the knowledge that they are unconditionally loved and supported.

In the Gospel of Matthew, we find a beautiful verse that encapsulates Jesus' inclusive approach: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28, NIV). This invitation extends to every one of us, reminding us that no matter our flaws, we are welcomed into the loving embrace of Jesus.

Moreover, in the book of 1 Samuel, we encounter a powerful reminder that "the Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart" (1 Samuel 16:7b, NIV). Let us remember this truth as we navigate our interactions with one another and with our children, striving to see the potential within each individual and encouraging them to shine brightly.

Let us emulate Jesus' love, acceptance, and belief in the potential of those around us. Together, as a caring community, we can create an environment where everyone thrives, regardless of their talents, skills, or stature. By embracing the spirit of inclusion and unconditional love, we uplift one another, fostering an atmosphere where all those around us can achieve all that they are capable of and more.

May we continue to journey together, guided by the compassionate and transformative example set by Jesus.
