School Council Meeting – June 2023
HIGHLIGHTS
- School Captain Emily represented JSC and informed School Council about the successful local kindergarten visits by JSC members, provided an update on the installation of the new soccer nets, and shared the updates from their meetings this term. Thank you JSC and School Captains for a great semester of work.
- Successful grant applications - The Stronger Communities Programme application was successful with $20,000 being awarded to the Croydon Hills Netball Club (CHNC) to upgrade the facilities with a grandstand for seating, shade, and shelter. This will benefit both the club members and the school community. Thanks to Angela and the CHNC for applying for this grant and to all involved in the installation of this stand throughout the coming months.
- Principal’s report – Christian, Jordan and Ali presented Council with the updated student reports for this semester. These changes/improvements were well received by School Council and all families will be able to view these changes when student reports are made available on the last day of term 2.
- Aligning with the review cycle, the updated Anaphylaxis policies have been reviewed and endorsed by School Council. Thanks to Jordan and the Education committee for this completing this work. Parents will be able to view these updated policies on the school website in due course.
- For CHPS to continue its star accreditationwith Sustainability Victoria through the Resource Smart School Program, School Council approved and ratified the five policies relating to Sustainability. Thanks to Steve Crook for updating and sharing these with School Council and leading Sustainability within the school. The environmental program and reductions in waste and utilities have also saved the school around $300,000 in bills over the last decade.
- Thank you CHAPS for an eventful term 2. We appreciate your efforts in running events for students (and for parents next term); for driving a variety of ongoing opt-in fundraisers and for communicating with the school community via the FB page and newsletter.
