College Cafe reopens with a fancy new look
After months of renovations, the Glenroy College Cafe has finally reopened - and it looks amazing. The cafe space, located just opposite the canteen, was completely revamped over Terms 1 and 2, with a new kitchen and plumbing, comfortable new furniture and a whole bright new look for students to enjoy.
The College Cafe is open for Breakfast Club every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings before school as well as every lunchtime. Students can come in from 8.30am for a free cheese toastie and a warming hot chocolate before classes start for the day. They are also welcome to eat their lunch and congregate on the new tables and chairs every lunchtime.
Glenroy's student gardener green thumbs
Glenroy College student leaders joined with gardening gurus from the neighbouring Mulberry Gardens group to mark National Tree Planting Day in July.
A huge thank you to our very generous Mulberry neighbours, who donated bucket-loads of shrubs, flowers and vegetable seedlings to fill out the College's new planter boxes. But not just that, our green-thumbed friends even mucked in to help students plant them while giving excellent advice about how to care for the plants as they grow..
We're looking forward to tending our garden and then harvesting the vegetables and fruits for students to use in our food technology classes!
NAPLAN results released
Glenroy College is assessing the 2023 NAPLAN results which were recently released to all Victorian schools. Families should also have received their child's results this week.
It is important for families to know that the way NAPLAN results are recorded has changed this year. The tests still measure numeracy, reading, writing, spelling, grammar and punctuation, but results are now presented in four easier-to-understand levels - exceeding, strong, developing or needs additional support.
This new system allows teachers and families to see exactly where each student is at so that we can work together to support their learning at Glenroy College. If you have any questions or want to discuss your child’s results, please get in touch with the front office.
