Explore the Learning in Grade 3

Reading:

We are focusing on building strong reading comprehension skills, encouraging students to make connections within the text, analyze the features of poetry, and appreciate the use of figurative language. Understanding the author's purpose, tone, and mood in various pieces of writing will further enrich their reading experience throughout the remainder of the term.

Writing:

In writing, students are exploring different types of poetry and learning to employ powerful literary devices such as alliteration and similes. After our unit on poetry, students will begin to look at creating information reports linked to our Inquiry topic.

Maths:

We are currently learning about multiplication and division, ensuring a solid foundation for more advanced math concepts. Telling time, understanding the seasons, exploring tessellations, angles, symmetry, and comprehending the value of money are some of the topics awaiting our students further in the term.

Inquiry:

This term our Inquiry topic is titled 'Around the World in 50 Days'. Students have been excitedly sharing their knowledge of geography and stories of their travels. Throughout the term students will continue to develop their mental map of the world and their understanding of place through examining the major characteristics of Australia, Australia's neighbouring countries and Africa and South America.
