Sharing Information and Learning with Our Community

It was lovely to see so many of our families attending the Expectations Expo two weeks ago. Thank you to all the parents who were able to come.

As mentioned in the survey sent to families last week, this year we are focusing on improving the engagement of our families in teaching and learning.  We are looking at new models of communicating information and sharing student learning with the community.

Thank you to everyone who completed the survey, we value your feedback.  Below is a summary of the results:

General consensus regarding what worked well at the Expo was the opportunity to see the students in their classrooms, meet the teachers, engage with some learning and gain some information regarding teaching and learning.

Feedback related to improvement of the process related to the time of day, difficulties visiting more than one classroom within the time frame, perhaps having shorter succinct sessions, offering opportunities for different classes on different days and providing an outline of what the session would entail.

Many parents noted that they would like to see more expos and classroom visits throughout the year and noted the importance of term overviews.

Finally, other suggestions included the possibility of using an app to share learning, after-hours meetings, sharing learning on the school newsletter, and varying days and times for future expos.

We will take this information into account in our planning moving forward.

Kind regards
