Physical Education

Welcome to another year of Physical Education at St Joseph the Worker!

Here is a run down of what your students will be learning in the coming term:

Prep: Perceptual Motor Skills Program (PMP), thru stations of isolated practice of basic balance activities, jumping, hopping, throwing, catching, bouncing, turn taking and spatial awareness – all done to music!

JLA:  Also a short focus on PMP, although once our skills have been consolidated, we will be putting it into minor games that require using multiple motor skills to achieve a common goal.

MLA: Learning about “Invasion / Territory Games” via Ultimate Frisbee.

SLA: Learning about “invasion / Territory Games” via Lacrosse.

MLA and SLA will also be doing 5 minutes of endurance (jogging or skipping), and having short discussions about “Women/Girls in Sport” (how that effects equality for both boys and girls participating in sport and physical activity alike).

Please send a note if your student has a short term illness or injury that may inhibit their performance in Physical Education classes (e.g: coughs that are exacerbated by excessive running, sprained ankles that weight can’t be put on).  I cannot guarantee that I will receive emails after 8:15am, so please send a WRITTEN note from home with your child to their lesson so that I can change the lesson to suit your needs safely, thank you kindly.

Hockey Victoria Clinic

On Monday 20th February, students in Years 3-6 participated in the Hockey Victoria Roadshow Program.

Students LOVED the games such as "Hoc-topus", "Egg and Spoon" (ball on the stick, how far can you get before you lose your egg?) and "Rob the Nest" - all hockey style!

If you are interested in joining a hockey team or learning more with a club, please see details below!
