Parent Engagement Expressions of Interest

Expressions of interest regarding a range of opportunities for Parent Engagement are now open.

We all value being part of a connected and engaged school community. Everyone can play a part in building a connected community at St Joseph’s - and all contributions are valued and welcomed. We’d love parents and carers to get involved in whatever capacity you can offer, whether it be helping with reading, being the classroom rep or even joining our School Council. Please be in touch with me, or return the form sent home last week if you’d like to help in 2023.

School Advisory Council Open Meeting: Monday 27th February 6:00 pm

We invite any interested parents to join us at our open School Advisory Council Meeting for 2023. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the purpose and function of the School Advisory Council.

Golden Horseshoe Festival

It is that time of the year again to gather interest in being a part of this event over Easter. Last year we had a float in the parade and our first food stall on Easter Saturday, both of which were a great success.

At this stage, we are looking for volunteers to coordinate these events. If you are interested could you please contact the office over the next week.

Essentially we need to have 1-2 people to ordinate the organisation of the float and food stall, as well as a parent to coordinate the preparation of food and/ or beverages for the food stall. We will also organise volunteers to assist on the day.

PLANNED BURN NOTIFICATION

This letter is to notify you that Forest Fire Management Victoria (FFMVic) has identified your property as being adjacent to, or close to an area of Crown land where FFMVic will undertake planned burning in the next few months.

FFMVic consists of specialist staff drawn from the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, Parks Victoria, Melbourne Water, and VicForests. These staff works alongside CFA, other emergency services, and communities to carry out a fuel management program in Victoria's public parks and forests to reduce the risk of bushfires to people, property, and the environment. Fuel management can include works such as planned burning, clearing works, and constructing fire breaks. All of these works help to reduce the fuel (ie: flammable vegetation) load, which reduces the risk of a bushfire. If a bushfire does occur in an area where fuel management has occurred, these works can reduce its impact and intensity.

Burn Location: 1KM NW of Beechworth
Season: Autumn
Bun Objectives: To achieve an Overall Fuel Hazard of Moderate or Low over 70% to 90% of the planned area.

What to expect on the day

On the day the planned burning takes place you can expect to see smoke or smoke haze, flames, operational vehicles, or aircraft. These are a normal part of the planned burn. You may also see small embers carried by air away from the fire. If FFMVic considers that, during the planned burn, there is a danger of a fire occurring on your land, either the CFA or FFMVic's own personnel may enter your land for the purpose of taking necessary steps to prevent or extinguish a fire, restrict its spread, or otherwise to protect life and property.
