Focus on Learning

Miss Sallie Pilgrim (Kindergarten) and Mrs Sharnie Meade (Stage 1)

Kindergarten

Kindergarten have had an amazing start to school, learning many new things.

During our first week at school we have been learning about the duration of time and the days of the week during Maths. We have been strengthening our fine motor skills through cutting, colouring, threading and sorting. In Literacy we have started reading our first book, I am Running. It is important that we use the pictures in the story to help work out the tricky words and point to each word when reading. I hope you enjoy the photos of our first week in Kindergarten!

Stage 1 Learning News

Stage 1 has had a fabulous start to our learning in 2023.  Along with introducing our new routines we have jumped straight into learning!

In literacy we have completed TWO big writes!  The students have loved the fairy lights, tea lights and special paper and pencils that have been used during this time.

We have also been working hard on different literacy rotations, with a focus on becoming more independent in our learning.

In Maths we have been trying to tell the time in both analog and digital times to hour, half hour and quarter hours.  We have loved using the hands on clocks and whiteboard to show our new knowledge.

The garden has absolutely overflowed with produce during the holidays - we have been busily eating our way through all the fresh fruit and vegetables!

PARENT READING WORKSHOPS

Next Monday we will be hosting our very first Parent Reading Workshops. These workshops are designed to help inform parents and carers about how to best support their children in their reading development. We strongly encourage all of our infants parents to attend, and welcome any interested parents/carers of primary students. This is an event not to be missed!
