Principal's Message

St Luke's... "nurturing faith filled, curious children to become creative contributors and innovative problem solvers for a changing world."

Dear Parents and carers,

It's been a hectic start to the new school year, with our students settling in well despite the influx of new arrivals of students and delays in our buildings.

We're still working to get our buildings fully completed, but students, parents and teachers have all worked together to ensure the best possible outcome for our students. One thing that has been very tight and has caused concern is the car park and flow of students exiting the site. Within the next week we have a new area of the building open which will change the flow of students off the site. While this has been frustrating we do appreciate the patience and care that everyone has shown up to this time.  Some changes will be documented and sent out to parents next week while we wait for final building changes to ensure this can happen.

We do appreciate the support of all of our community in this. I am very grateful to all the families in our community that realise that learning is a three-way partnership between parents, students and teachers. We know that our students need the support of their families in order to be successful. That's why we're committed to creating a strong relationship between parents, students and teachers as a partnership.

One thing we’d like to do moving forward is to increase our opportunity for parent engagements throughout the year. COVID stopped many of these opportunities, but we are now to the point where we are able to fully engage as a community again.

We're excited to announce that we're kicking off the year with  parent learning walks for the School of Foundations and School of Leadership. This event will give parents a chance to learn about our school and meet with some of our leaders. We hope that this will give parents a better understanding of their children's education and help us build a stronger relationship with them.

In addition, we're inviting parents to join us for our ECSI morning tea survey. This survey will help us to gather data about how we might enhance our Catholic School Identity. Parents are invited in to join us for a morning tea and survey on Friday next week. You can RSVP here to join us at this morning tea.

We also plan to hold termly afternoon walkthroughs for new families (or interested existing families)  This will give you the opportunity to get to know our school and see some of our resourcing. We recognise that some of our families due to COVID have not had the opportunity to engage with us or see where your child learns….and we are in an extremely lucky environment in terms of resourcing.

We ask all Year 11 students and their parents to join us next Tuesday for an information evening to discuss the start of the HSC.  This is an important year in preparation for the HSC, and it has been impressive so far to see that the year 11 cohort have really stepped up with their approach and attitude.

St Luke's would like to welcome all prospective students and parents/carers, in particular for Kindergarten and Year 7, 2024, to join with staff and students for our Open Day, Thursday 9th March, 4pm - 6:30pm.   For more information please contact the College via email at stlukesmarsdenpark@parra.catholic.edu.au or call 9854 3100. We already have a strong level of interest for places within all year groups in the College, so if you are aware of families that are interested - please pass this information on.

It would be lovely to see all parents at the College some time this term at one or another of these events. Please stop me to say hello if you see me, I would love to meet as many of our parents as possible.

Kind Regards,

Mrs Kelly Bauer
