Year 4  

Term 3 -Geography

Students will develop an understanding of place, space, environment, interconnection and sustainability. 

They will explore the main characteristics of the continents of Africa and South America and the location of their major countries in relation to Australia.

They will investigate the use and management of natural resources and waste, and the different views on how to do this sustainably.

 

Term 4 - History

 

Students will investigate pre-contact ways of life of the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples; their knowledge of their environment including land management practices; and their fundamental beliefs about the interconnectedness of Country/Place, People, Culture and Identity.

Year 3

Term 3 - Geography

Students will develop an understanding of place, space, environment and interconnection. Students will develop an understanding of the similarities and differences between places within and outside Australia.

Students will learn about the states and capital cities of Australia, as well as natural and human features.

Students will investigate some of Australia's neighbours and the diverse characteristics of these countries.

 

Term 4 - History

Students will develop historical understanding through key concepts including sources, continuity and change, cause and effect, perspectives, empathy and significance.

Students will explore the historical features and diversity of their community and the different celebrations and commemorations, locally and in other places around the world.
