Mrs Dorothy Jones

Late on Friday, February 10, Mrs Dorothy Jones passed away.  She was 93 years of age.  Mrs Jones' influence on our school over a very long time has been immeasurable.  A former principal, she served faithfully at Mildura Baptist College (as it was then known) for more than 20 years.

Mrs Jones had a passion for working with children and she considered it a great privilege to be an influence in their lives.  She regarded as most sacred the opportunity to impact her students spiritually.  In her own words, "the school and its ministry had been an all-consuming part of (her) life since the idea of a Christian School was first mooted in 1979."

Mrs Jones worked in almost every area of responsibility in the school.  Her greatest love though was teaching music, accompanying students, and conducting the school choir.  Even after her retirement at the end of 2006 she remained involved and contributed to the life of the school for several years thereafter.  To the very end, she remained one of the school's most faithful supporters.

A funeral will be held for Mrs Jones at Mildura Baptist Church on Friday, February 17 at 1:30 pm.  The school will close at 12:30 pm on that day to allow staff and students to honour a great champion of Christian Education.
