Sick Children Attending School

Apart from COVID there are a number of viruses floating around the community.  Parents are asked not to send their children to school if they are at all ill.  The children are miserable and not able to concentrate, and they risk passing the virus to other members of our community.

If your child suffers from hay fever, please contact the nurse to discuss their care at school.

Any child presenting to school ill will be isolated from the other students and sent home immediately.  We appreciate your support.

Reporting Absences

Parents are asked to go to the COMPASS Portal to enter the reason for their child’s absence before 9.30 am the day of their absence. If parents have not recorded the reason by 9.30am you will receive an automated text, requesting that you go to the COMPASS Portal to record your child’s absence. If parents know in advance that their child will be absent or that the absence will be over several days, it can be entered in advance.

We ask that parents do not email their child’s teacher as sometimes the emails are not read before school.

Student Accident Insurance

Parents are reminded that the school does not hold ambulance or accident insurance for injuries to students. Parents are generally responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injury to students, including any transport costs. There are a number of companies who provide accident insurance policies.

Bringing Valuable Items to School

Parents, students and staff are reminded that personal property brought to school (including mobile phones, smart watches, iPods, calculators, toys, sporting goods, stationary) are not insured for loss or damage. Students are discouraged from bringing anything to school that is particularly valuable or special. All student electronic devices, including mobile phones, are to be turned off and secured in school bags during school hours.

Traffic Safety

Parents are reminded that there are strict parking restrictions around the school and these will be enforced by Stonnington Council.  It is suggested that parents walk to and from school with their children or park a little further away and walk down to the school, this will help to reduce the congestion around the school.

The two ’Kiss and Go’ areas are still in place along Tooronga Road.  Parents are reminded that they cannot leave their car if they pull up in these areas.  If you wish to walk your child to the school gate or classroom, please do not use the ‘Kiss and Go’ areas.

Whilst we understand these arrangements are not always convenient, we thank you for your support and cooperation with this.

Students Arriving Late

Parents are reminded that if their child arrives to school after 9.05 that they must be signed in at the office.

Parents cannot drop their children off at the gate, they must accompany them into the office to sign them in - our children are too young to sign themselves in.

We acknowledge that this may be inconvenient for some families, however it is for the safety of the children that we require the parent to accompany them into school.
