Gullie the Gumnut our new "PAX leader" is on the look out for a class or students from a class that are displaying our word of the fortnight. The class showing lots of happiness and presented with Gullie the Gumnut at our assembly was KINDERGARTEN! Well done Kinder.

Word of the Week: Punctual

  • If you are punctual, you do something or arrive somewhere at the right time and are not late
  • What is an example of being punctual? For a 9 a.m. meeting, for example, a punctual person would try to arrive by 8:45 a.m. or 8:50 a.m., allowing enough time for and unexpected delay, such as traffic.
  • Ideas for how to be punctual: Start with setting up a schedule with deadlines. Create a to-do list and ensure that you and your family sticks to it. Get used to routines, such as beginning with waking up on time in the morning.

Just a reminder that school supervision does not begin till 8:30am. You may see teachers arriving early so that we can prepare for school, however we are asking parents to please drop your children off as close to 8:30 as you can. We understand that parents and carers have work schedules however we know you can help us keep the students safely supervised by not dropping off your children early. Thank you for your support.

Students successes this week:

Maddie Byrne who has been selected in the Northwest Tennis team. Well done Maddie and all the best for the next challenge.

Isabelle Cooper, Charlotte McRae, Lillian Murdock and Bella Starr for gaining a place in the 2023 Armidale 11’s Development netball squad. Great job girls!

Dates for your calendar:

  1. Week 8 - Parent/student/teacher meetings. This is a chance to catch-up with your child's teacher and your child, to discuss their learning goals for the year, ask questions and celebrate their success. These bookings will be available soon on COMPASS.
  2. Martin's Gully PS will be part of the Armidale Community of Schools (ACOS) Autumn Festival float. This be held on the Saturday 1st April. More details to follow.
  3. We will also have students from 3-6 performing at An Evening with ACOS . This spectacular will be held at Armidale Secondary College on Thursday 10th August at 6pm. More details will also follow.

Attendance Matters:

We have set our school a target to achieve 90% attendance 90% of the time for 2023.

Can you help us do this? Can you make appointments or attend extra curricular activities outside school hours?  Coming to school each day between 8:30am and 9:00am and leaving at 3pm is just a simple way we can achieve this together. Let's do this together.

Staff Spotlight:

Rhianna Landow: Happy Wednesday Martin’s Gully! My name is Rhianna Landow, and I am the teacher for the 3/4 Wombats this year. I have been at MGPS since 2019. Although I didn’t know where Martin’s Gully was at the time, I have not looked back.

I live with my partner James, and our two children, Odin and Bodhi. We moved here to Armidale from Lake Cathie (a little village south of Port Macquarie), and all our family are still on the Mid-North Coast. Although we miss them, we are lucky to be a part of the beautiful MGPS community. Outside of school, I am a member of the Armidale Physical Culture Club. I recently returned to Physie after a break, but I have previously been a National finalist and have performed at the Sydney Opera House.

As a teacher, I believe that every student has a right to an excellent education, and I find the intricacies and differences in the way students learn fascinating. It makes each day exciting and fun (and sometimes challenging!) trying my best to support all my students in every way possible. I am a big believer in creating a learning environment where every student feels loved, accepted, and supported to be the best humans they can be.
