Faith and Mission

Hello Marian News!

We are the Co-Captains of Performing Arts, Leanne and Vivien. We are pleased to represent and report our ensemble’s accomplishments in this month’s Opening School Year Mass!

Courage comes in many different forms, and it's a trait we are all capable of embodying. Our theme for this year is ‘Courage’, which means to act with integrity and with bravery. This attribute was displayed countless times by the Performing Arts ensemble during the Mass which was held on Wednesday 8 February. Fr Barry Hughes presided over our Mass and talked about the importance of being courageous through wisdom and learning from our mistakes.

A week before the Mass, the Performing Arts ensemble gathered together to learn and practise the songs in preparation. We would like to thank them for the dedication exhibited during the Performing Arts meetings and commend them for displaying courage when singing in front of the whole school. In particular, Victoria and Angel, the current Marian Choir United co-captains.

Victoria had the courage to lead the Performing Arts ensemble during “We Sing a Song for Brigid” and maintained her composure whenever the ensemble struggled to sing. Thanks to her ability to keep calm under pressure and her extraordinary leadership skills, she was able to lead the ensemble back on track and infused courage among the members to continue singing.

Angel showed immense courage when leading the ensemble in singing “Great is He”. During the hymn, she had the courage to step out of her comfort zone and gesture towards the crowd, encouraging them to sing along. Through their actions, Angel and Victoria inspire us to step out of our comfort zone and display courage in our everyday lives.

Let us learn from these experiences and inspire courage in others, whether it be through daily tasks or through music.
