Beth Winterhalter - Music Coordinator

What’s happening around the Music Department this week?

We’d like to introduce ourselves Hollie Burns and Rebekah Ray, we are VET MUSIC

students and are undertaking some structured workplace learning. Part of our course is to work in the industry and learn on the job. As music journalists, we have been researching the Music Program in the College and finding out what has been happening.

The Worship Choir

The Worship choir and band is busy preparing for the Opening Mass and Ash Wednesday Mass scheduled for February 22nd, they will be delivering 5 songs throughout the Mass. The songs to be performed include ‘40 days', ‘Remembrance,’ ‘Ashes,’ ‘Desert Road’, and ‘I will follow You’. The choir has a range of students from Year 7 to Year 12 collaborating together to celebrate lent and Jesus’ sacrifice of 40 days and nights in the desert. Ms. Winterhalter, the Music Coordinator, is leading the ensemble and working tirelessly to prepare the music for the gig.

Soundwaves Concert Series

On Thursday 16th February the Soundwaves Concert Series returned at lunchtime on the grass outside the music room! It was a scorching hot day with a whopping 38 degrees while the students were performing. The Year 12 VET Music students performed a few tunes, featuring Sage Anderson as a solo act and Cooper Simcock, Sofia Jones and Liam Egan as a band.

The music was most enjoyable and we cannot wait until next week’s concert!
