ENVIRONMENTAL ART

Launch of Grade 5 Environmental Artwork in the local community!

In Term 3 of 2022 the Grade 5 students in Visual Art worked with Glen Eira City Council and Ormond Uniting Church to create their own piece of Activism Art!

What is Activism Art?

Students learnt that Activism Art is artwork that raises awareness about important topics and issues. It allows artists to express their opinions through their art.

The Grade 5 students chose a topic related to environmental sustainability such as air pollution, deforestation or overfishing and created an artwork that could get viewers thinking about humanity’s impact on the environment. Students created many hidden messages about the environment within their artwork. These artworks were on display at Murrumbeena Primary School’s Art Exhibition in 2022.

The artworks will be put on an official and long-term display at Ormond Uniting Church later this month. The launch of the display will take place on Sunday 26 February at 11:30am.

We are so proud of Murrumbeena students for using their creative skill and talent to express their opinions and take action towards important issues such as environmental sustainability.
