Developmental Management at Newlands

On Monday 2nd of March at 2:30 p.m., we will be holding an information sessions for parents to explain the procedures and share the documents we use. This meeting will be held in the library. The documents have been developed to be aligned with our school keystones and values.

This session will give parents/cares an opportunity to learn about the whole school approaches we are using an give you an opportunity to clarify any questions you may have.

I will be running this session. Please contact me if you are unable to attend but wish to find out more about the new developmental procedures we have introduced this year.

Student Wellbeing Leaders

I am pleased to announce that our student wellbeing leaders, Lily, Laylah and Elke.

They have begun the year by helping to organise the 'upcycling' uniform sale. They will take over the organisation of the management of lost property  at Newlands. It will be an exciting year for our Wellbeing leaders as they will be involved in the delivery of activities and events which enhance the wellbeing of all at Newlands

Lost Property at Newlands

Lost property, like at any school continues to be a problem. We are going to take some new directions this year to ensure that we are better able to manage it.

We will be encouraging everyone to be RESPONSIBLE for the items they bring to school.

We ask that ALL items brought to school are clearly labelled with your child’s name. If an item does not have a name on it, then it is almost impossible to return it to its owner.

Our student wellbeing leaders are going to be responsible for the management of lost property in 2020. The following procedure will be followed.

  • Each learning area will have a lost property container.
  • Our leaders will check these containers weekly and return named items to their owners.
  • All uncollected uniforms which are not named and collected within a week, will be added to our upcycling box.
  • Items which are not named and that are not part of our school uniform, will be donated to the Red Cross, if they have not been claimed within a week.
  • Secondhand uniforms can be donated and left in a donation box which will be outside the library.
  • Each term we will hold an upcycling uniform sale. The date for this sale will be advertised through the school newsletter.
  • Please note that there will no longer be a lost property area at the office.

Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund

The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) provides payments for eligible students to attend activities like: school camps or trips, swimming and school-organised sport programs, excursions and incursions.

Who can apply

Families holding a valid means-tested concession card or temporary foster parents are eligible to apply.

Payments amounts for 2020 are:

$125 per year for eligible primary school students

Prep students in government schools who receive the fund are also able to get support for school uniforms. These uniform packs will be organised by the school in term 2.

Each year the CSEF system is open for schools to enter applications from the start of term 1. Parents/carers wishing to apply for CSEF payments for 2020 must submit their application form to the office. You will not need to submit an application if you lodged one last year, however you will need to apply again if you have a child beginning school in 2020.

Please bring your healthcare card to the office and sign the application if you qualify for CSEF.
