Bienvenido!
What a start to the school year it has been in 2/3! Cass, Jose and Isabelle are super excited to be the teachers of such an epic cohort. It has been great to see the children settling in so quickly and demonstrating their eagerness to learn. We have begun to set up our classroom culture to ensure it is a space ready for learning. An environment that creates, challenges and encourages the best learning and thinking possible.
Through our Term 1 inquiry, students have begun focusing on our school values of ‘Care, Creativity, Curiosity and Responsibility’ and embedding these into our classroom expectations. They have participated in a range of team bonding and getting to know you exercises to promote trust and support within our classroom. Some of our personal favourites being, passing the holla hoop and moving objects with body parts.
To support student’s readiness to learn we have incorporated many new ways for the students to check in. Good morning actions are promoted and circle time is conducted each morning. The students also have access to calm spaces within classrooms when in need of a break and are able to express themselves through our feelings wall. This promotes a positive climate for learning within the 2/3 area.
We are excited to be getting our ICT program up and running. Home devices will begin to be collected and will need to remain at school for up to a week for programs to be installed. These devices will be used at school and home to support our learning programs through the use of interactive games, Bug Club and Seesaw. If you have any questions regarding our ICT program please speak to your child’s teacher.
This year we have introduced the use of Seesaw into our everyday learning. Teachers and students will be using this platform as a way to share work with parents. Provided Login details can be used to access the app.
Grade 2 Families, Zoo cancellation

The Builders
This year we will be introducing ‘The Builders’ program into the 2/3 area. Students will work in social groups to work through a range of math related activities. In this time teachers will be taking small workshops in both Spanish and English that focuses on specific learning goals. This allows students to not only develop mathematical concepts but also their speaking and listening skills. The main concepts we will be focusing on this term include counting, time and data.
