Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Families and Community members,

Coronavirus Update from DET

The situation is evolving rapidly as we find out more about Coronavirus COVID–19.  Increasing numbers of countries are reporting cases with rapid increases in many places.

As you may be aware, this week, the World Health Organization declared the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) a pandemic reflecting widespread increasing transmission of the virus globally. Travel bans have also been extended to include Italy, in addition to the existing bans to the Republic of Korea, Iran and mainland China.

For further information, please refer to the letter sent out via Compass today to all families. As a school we are well positioned and supported by DET and DHHS to receive regular updates on the most factual and relevant information, which will be shared with families via Compass as information comes to hand.

School Captains Breaky, 2020

On Thursday morning our 2020 School Captains, along with members of their families, joined Dehlia, Alison and I at Warralily Cockatoo for an introductory breakfast.

Whilst fairly informal, this was a great chance to recognise the achievements of our newly appointed captains and acknowledge the role and importance of Student Leadership at ACS.

Looking forward to the year ahead and seeing these new leaders shine!

Emergency Management Drill

On Thursday we completed our Emergency Management Lockdown Drill.   Drills such as these are a mandatory and necessary part of school operations to ensure the safety of everyone in our community.

All students and staff completed this drill in a very calm and timely manner.  We congratulate and thank our students for listening and following staff instructions while we practised this very important drill.

House Swimming Sports

Today the Grade 3-10 students went to compete in the first house event of the 2020 school year at Kardinia Aquatic Centre.

The students enjoyed a fun filled day of novelty swim events, grassed games and some relay races in the learn to swim pool. Although the weather wasn’t perfect the rain held off and the children enjoyed what was a great event.

The results for the winning house will be announced at assembly and let me tell you, this is the closest event in the school’s short history.

Thank you to all the parents that came down to support and to those that were a great help in the main pool with collecting house point, noodles and kick boards. These days are only successful with your help.

Also a huge thank you to the teachers for the support with the students on the day, with your tireless efforts these days are what the students really look forward to.

  • placing the completed ballot paper in a blank envelope
  • placing the blank envelope in a second envelope with the voter’s name and address printed on the back of this envelope
  • posting the envelope to the principal so as to reach the principal by 4.00pm on the day of the closure of the ballot

OR
