Prinicipal's Report

As reported in previous editions of this newsletter Guyra Central School provided the opportunity for our school community to respond to an Excellence in school Customer Service 360 Reflection Tool, research around the world demonstrates that effective schools have high levels of parental and community engagement. All children deserve to be educated in a school that delivers positive experiences - one where good customer service facilitates high quality teaching and learning. Delivering exceptional customer service is a whole-school responsibility and all staff in our school have a role to play. Our whole school executive have reflected on the results of the survey and are now discussing future strategies with their staff.

During week 7 the Deputy Principal, Tim Lloyd and myself continue to meet with whole family groups, thank you to Miss Eunice Blair for her commitment during our meetings with families who identify as Aboriginal. During these meetings we provide parents and students with an opportunity to discuss their personal aspirations, expectations, passions and provide suggestions for future school projects/programs. These meetings are designed to provide opportunities for the senior executive of the school to listen to parents and their children with the intention to adjust school resource allocation and planning to reflect our findings.

We have attached a copy of the School Community Charter document. This document was released early 2019 by NSW Department of Education and outlines the responsibilities of parents, carers, educators and school staff in NSW public schools to ensure our learning environments are collaborative, supportive and cohesive. The School Community Charter aligns with the N.S.W Department of Education Strategic Plan 2018 - 2022. A copy of this charter will also be provided to each parent during our individual family meetings.

If you have driven past the school in the past few days you will have noticed our new additions to the school grounds. We now have 3 new flagpoles, one each for our National, N.S.W and Aboriginal flags. The school addition of new flagpoles has been the result of discussions with Mr Hans Hietbrink and I thank Hans for his input and  continued support and wisdom with this project.

We have attached again our invitation to Guyra Central School Partnerships for Learning thank you morning tea. If you have partnered with the school in the past and/or would like to develop a future partnership with the school please come along and help us celebrate.

Thanks to our community for your continued support of the school.
