School Council Meetings for 2019

October School Council (SC) Meeting Highlights

In addition to the Principal’s Report, we received updates from 5 out of the 10 subcommittees that had met prior to this meeting.  We finished off with a discussion on three sets of recent school survey data.

  • We gladly welcomed a new member to SC!  Ange Ricketson has taken up the vacant community member position for the remainder of the SC term. 
  • Four policies were ratified after being reviewed at the Education Sub Committee.
  • CHAPS and MOTHS continue their great work with numerous school community activities upcoming and updating us on their fundraising success from past events. Keep an eye out in the newsletter for Term 4 activities – including the big camp out on the oval.
  • The 2020 Fair Committee is coming together and is meeting next Wed Oct 23rd at 7:00pm  – please contact Christian if you are interested in attending.
  • Shane Holloway represented the Publicity and Communications team and shared the results of the recent CHPS School Survey. It was great to read the positive feedback about the school and to review the suggestions for improvement. Thanks to all parents who took the time to share their feedback. SC and the CHPS Staff welcome feedback anytime so please feel free to contact any of us. 
  • Carol Wyatt presented the results from the recent DET School Survey and the Grade 4-6 ATS (Attitude to School) Survey which has a focus on student wellbeing. Carol asked for feedback on the results, which led to discussions around the many strengths reported and the areas where the school can do a bit better.

Thanks again to the parents, teachers and additional school staff who participate in SC meetings and subcommittee meetings.

Our next meeting is on November 13th at 7:30pm and we will post the agenda items the week prior to this. Your attendance and feedback is always welcome – please see below for more details.

School Council Meetings

School Council meetings are open to the school community. Please announce your attendance and interest prior to the meeting by emailing holdsworth.christian.p@edumail.vic.gov.au   

Standing Orders dictate that guests:

  • Must direct all their comments through the chairperson.
  • Raise issue in writing to the President prior to the meeting.
  • Have no voting rights.

School Council meets in the Staffroom at 7:30pm on the third Wednesday of the month:

  • October 16th  
  • November 13th
  • December 11th

Sub-Committees meet at various times:

  • Finance – 3rd Wednesday of every month at 9:05am
  • Education – 3rd Wednesday of every month at 6:00pm
  • Facilities and the Learning Environment – 3rd Wednesday of every month at 6:00pm
  • Publicity and Communications – 2nd Wednesday of every month, 5.30pm
  • Croydon Hills Association of Parents (CHAPS) - next meeting TBC
  • Men of the Hills (MOTHS) - next meeting TBC
  • Uniform Shop – Next meeting TBC
  • Canteen – next meeting TBC
  • Out of Hours School Care Program - next meeting TBC
