Student Leaders

The Year Six Student Leaders have been working hard on Policy Reviews. They have reviewed the Bullying Policy and have shared amazing ideas on how to run workshops in our school. They are currently working on the Engagement and Wellbeing Policy.

Middle School Inquiry -

Voice and Agency

The students have developed and created their entire unit of inquiry this term. It is based on ‘teamwork’ where students work with their table teams to gain class money (reward system) when demonstrating positive attributes of teamwork throughout the week. Students spend their money at the end of the week on their rewards of choice.

Every Friday, students reflect on the week of learning and we have a ‘WWW’ lesson and “EBI” to help teachers develop an enriched learning program for the following week.

On Thursday 7th September Ava, Alaska and I went on our 3rd iSea iCare excursion to Warneet. We learnt about threatened species like the Southern Brown Bandicoot, bush mice, frogs and more, this was presented by Parks Victoria rangers. They also spoke to us about some of the pests that harm our native wildlife such as pigs, cats (domestic and feral) and foxes. Plants can also be pests, and we went to work trying to untangle the trees from a weed called Blue Bell that is native to New South Wales.

After eating our lunch we sat down and listened to Lionel talk about Aboriginal culture.  We got to try on a possum skin cloak and he played the Yidaki (didgeridoo). He explained how the Aboriginal culture is based around only taking what you need and showing respect for the land.  This is something we all should strive for. He also showed us some weapons and explained a bit about bush medicine.

Mandy (the iSea iCare co-ordinator) spoke to us about carbon emissions and sustainability.  It was sad to learn that Australia has one of the highest carbon emissions impact on the planet per year. We would like to thank Mrs Trafford as she has taken us to all of our excursions.
