Our Assistant Principals reflect on term two

We hope this newsletter finds you in high spirits as we bid farewell to yet another fantastic semester here at Sunbury College. It has been a semester filled with academic achievements, personal growth and memorable moments. Let’s take a moment to celebrate our accomplishments and look forward to what lies ahead. The Principal team would like to acknowledge the power of work out of our sub-school teams and their efforts in supporting and encouraging the young people of Sunbury College.

Planning for 2024 – Subject selection and pathway planning

Early in term 3, students in Year 8 through to Year 11 undertake subject selection through a process that is led by the sub schools. The Sub schools and the careers team will hold subject selection information sessions and provide opportunities for students to find out more about specific subjects and possible pathways including an optional pathways interview session, where students in Yr 9 and 10 can make bookings to speak to one of our staff members about their plan. Keep an eye out for news from the sub-school teams about subject selection and planning. Course Guides for 2024 can be located here on the school website.

Sunbury College and the Sunbury & Bulla Neighbourhood Fund

Sunbury College has successfully secured funds to make some safety and aesthetic upgrades to our front courts. The works will enable students and the local community (outside of school hours) to enjoy the courts for recreational pursuits for years to come. The works will include:

  • Removal of redundant line marking
  • Removal of old tennis pole sockets
  • Removal or uneven spaces
  • Installation of more bench seating
  • Painting and repainting required lines
  • Installation of netball rings on a designated court
  • Replacement of missing pole protectors

The works are expected to take place during term 3 and will cause some disruption.. Following their completion, students and members of the community (outside of hours) will be encouraged to access this space.

Car parking around the school

We respectfully ask parents and carers to not park in the Early Childhood Education Cente’s car park that is located across the road. This is a private car park and should only be left available to staff, parents/carers and little ones that are directly connected to the centre.

We ask for parent/carer support in encouraging their child to cross Racecourse Rd and Riddell Rd using only the designated crossings and under passes. This will call upon the patience of students as they navigate their way home.

Start of term 3📚

As we prepare for a well-deserved break, we warn to express our gratitude to the entire Sunbury College community for your continued support, collaboration, and enthusiasm. It is through your combined efforts that we create an environment where students can thrive and reach their full potential.

Students and families are reminded that students are not permitted to have deliveries of takeaway food provided for them at the front of the school and that students should become prepared with either brunch and lunch brought from home or purchased from the school canteen. Students have ample time to make purchases of their special takeaway treat during non-school time and the lovely admin staff at our school are not in a position to make arrangements for its delivery. The school requests that parents/carers do not provide takeaway food through the school gate.

Enjoy your holidays, recharge and return refreshed, ready to tackle new challenges and make even greater achievements in the upcoming semester. Remember, your journey to success starts with a growth mindset and a determination to make the most of every opportunity. School returns on Monday 10 July.
